Donations for Doğan Akhanli

Turkey had obtained an international arrest warrant against Doğan Akhanli through Interpol. The arrest is most probably politically motivated. Turkey demands the extradition of Doğan, who is our fellow campaigner and among the founding members of the German-Turkish-Armenian Friendship Society. The German citizen and Turkish-born writer is now forced to remain in Spain for 40 days. Help us to finance his forced stay!

Together with the Armin T. Wegner Society, the German-Turkish-Armenian Friendship Society and its chairman Marc Sinan have launched an appeal for donations on betterplace.org. Doğan is currently forced to stay in Spain for 40 days, where he was imprisoned last Saturday and released shortly afterwards on condition of remaining in Spain until it is finally decided if he gets extradited or not. With this donation campaign we are seeking to support Doğan in financing his forced stay and legal costs. Help us to provide support for him in this difficult situation!

German-Turkish-Armenian Friendship Society

On July 1, 2017 at 7 pm, the foundation of the German-Turkish-Armenian Friendship Society (Deutsch-türkisch-armenische Freundschaftsgesellschaft e.V.), which was initiated by Marc Sinan and Markus Rindt, takes place at RADIALSYSTEM V.
The project has received prominent support from numerous Armenian, German and Turkish artists.

The founders are convinced that every generation to have been spared the horrors of war and persecution will have to find its own way of learning and remembering in order to fully appreciate the good fortune of growing up in a society where the principles of peace, freedom and democracy hold sway.

Fully aware that actions speak louder than words, the society intends to regularly bring together artists from these three nations whose work tackles these subjects and who seek dialogue with other positions and disciplines.
